Give Kids the World Feature

You may have already read about Emily’s wish trip last April here on our website. If you haven’t, there are lots of links further down the page.

Today, my blog post about our stay at the village is being featured over at the Give Kids the World website.

On a side note, I would like to add…… out of respect for Give Kids the World, what they have done for us, and the families who visit there from around the world, a small section was removed in which I referenced Jesus giving of himself in the short amount of time he had to share with others. They prefer to keep their stories non denominational and not reference religion in any way. The original post in its full content will be posted here one day.

Come take a peek….. {Give Kids the World}.

being emily

I sometimes wonder what it’s like to be Emily. She has an innocent and unassuming way about her. Oblivious to the world going on around her, she sees only the good in people.

When you are in your world, your mind takes you places others will not see and more likely than not, they wouldn’t understand. I’m sure it’s a world of beauty and wonder …every bit or perhaps even greater than the one the rest of the world lives in. Similar I would guess, to the magical places my sailboat takes me . The hidden anchorages, the playful dolphins, the beautiful sunsets and sunrises….I believe in my heart that is the kind of world you dwell in too. ~Grandpa

When we were in Sea World on Emily’s wish trip last April, she met Franklin. She recognized him and began to interact with him. Not with words, since Emily is non-verbal, but with gestures and a sort of connection they seemed to have. Spending time in Florida…at Disney World, with Pooh, with Franklin, with Mickey Mouse…. Emily was able to jump into “her world” for real. Even if only for a short time.

And that is a little glimpse at what it’s like……

being Emily.

wishes come true

Thanks to Make a Wish…. our daughter’s dream to meet Winnie the Pooh in Disneyworld, came true this past week.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride was like jumping right inside a Pooh Movie.
So magical.Emily loved it so much we rode it 4 times.
Emily & her friends shared secrets.Held hands.Hugged each other.Fell in love.

They even played a little together.Well hello there Tigger.
Our family will never forget those sweet moments and neither will Emily.
With love,
