Tiger Lily Tumbler Quilt

IMG_3682If you want to make an adorable quilt thats quick & easy and looks like you spent hours upon hours cutting fabric then this tumbler quilt is perfect for you.

I had a mini quilt retreat at my house this past week and Amanda {Jedicraftgirl} and I made these Tiger Lily tumbler quilts together. Plus alot more quilty goodness.

IMG_3592Fabric you need to make a 49″ x 64″ tumbler quilt:

30 - 5″ width of fabric strips

2 yards of fabric for backing

quilt batting

6 - width of fabric strips for binding

You can use your scrappy fabrics or fat quarters for your tumblers, but for these quilts …. we cut yardage into 5″ WOF strips.

IMG_9354With your Sizzix fabi machine, cutting pads & tumbler die ….. cut 240 tumblers.

IMG_9352Using our Sizzix products …. we were able to cut 580 tumblers in under an hour. Enough for both of us.

IMG_9358Time saving tip: If you are using 5″ strips for your tumblers, you can lay one entire strip on your die and cut them all at once.

IMG_3710Starting with your first row, stitch together 20 tumblers with 1/4″ seam allowance.

You will make 12 rows of 20.

FullSizeRenderDon’t forget to square up your top and bottom edge before quilting.

IMG_3724I quilted mine 1/4″ away from each seam ….. i just love how it frames the tumblers.

Take your time quilting and if you have to walk away from your machine to take care of your family, just leave your sewing machine needle lowered into the fabric. That makes it easier to come back and finish where you left off.

IMG_3730Sewing with friends is priceless….. and with a limited amount of time, we were so excited to use our Sizzix fabric cutting machine to make this comfy cozy quilt to remember our time together.

Sizzixed with love, Tina & Amanda {Emily Ann’s Kloset & Jedicraftgirl}
